Oil & Gas News

U.S. Natgas Prices Surge 8% on Record LNG Exports and Strong Demand
U.S. natural gas prices jumped 8% on Monday, driven by record flows to LNG export plants and forecasts of higher demand in the coming weeks. This price increase also follows news that Germany is not in talks with Russia about restarting the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, meaning Europe will continue to import large quantities of U.S. LNG. Despite record U.S. gas production and mild weather forecasts, LNG exports remain strong, with U.S. output reaching new highs. Check out the graphic below and you can also see the most up-to-date numbers on natural gas prices here.

Trump’s Tariff Threat Could Hurt Canada’s Oil Industry
Trump’s threat of a 10% tariff on Canadian oil could slow Canada’s oil drilling sector, leading to job losses and reduced activity as companies delay spending. This uncertainty could hurt Canada's recovery, especially for smaller oil producers. On the flip side, U.S. oil and gas drillers may benefit, as Canadian oil becomes more expensive, potentially increasing demand for U.S. oil and equipment, while raising costs for Canadian companies.

Russia’s Oil and Gas Revenues Drop by 18% Due to Sanctions

Russia’s oil and gas revenues fell by 18.4% in February 2025, totaling $8.6 billion, due to disruptions from U.S. sanctions on Russian tankers. The sanctions have made it difficult for Russia to offload crude, impacting its budget revenues. For the U.S., this could mean increased opportunities in global oil markets as Russian shipments are delayed, potentially boosting American oil exports.

New Power Plants Increase Demand for Haynesville Shale Gas
New gas-powered power plants are driving up the need for Haynesville Shale gas. Swepco is building a new plant and converting an old coal plant in Texas, while Entergy is adding new turbines in Louisiana for Meta’s data center. These projects are good news for local gas producers, as they help reduce transportation costs and bring more business to the area.
