Oil & Gas News

OPEC Predicts Strong Oil Demand for 2025 and 2026
OPEC expects global oil demand to grow by 1.4 million barrels per day in both 2025 and 2026. Most of this growth will come from countries outside the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), like China and India. Oil production from countries outside OPEC is also expected to increase, especially from the U.S., Brazil, and Canada. OPEC's forecast suggests a steady rise in global oil demand and supply over the next two years.

Oil Prices Rise as U.S. Crude Supplies Drop
Oil prices went up after U.S. crude inventories fell by 2 million barrels in the second week of January. While gasoline and other fuel supplies increased, they’re still lower than usual for this time of year. Even though experts are forecasting more oil than needed in 2025, concerns about U.S. sanctions on Russia and potential supply shortages are keeping prices higher. As of now, Brent crude is at $81.09 per barrel, and WTI is at $79.12. You can see the up-to-the-minute commodities numbers here.

Western U.S. Needs More Gas as Demand Increases

Natural gas demand is growing in the western U.S., especially in states like Arizona, due to more people and businesses. To meet this need, more gas will come from areas like the Uinta and Green River basins. While there’s some unused infrastructure that can help, the region still relies on gas imports from Canada and Texas. More drilling and pipeline projects are needed to keep up with the rising demand.

Move to Watch

Amplify Energy Merges with Juniper Capital to Expand in Rockies
Amplify Energy is merging with companies owned by Juniper Capital, adding 287,000 acres of land in key oil fields in Colorado and Wyoming. The deal will increase Amplify's oil production and give it more assets in the Rockies. Juniper will own 39% of the combined company, while Amplify keeps 61%. The merger strengthens Amplify’s cash flow and sets the stage for future growth in these oil-rich areas.
