Oil & Gas News

Trump's Tariffs on Venezuelan Crude Spark Bullish Sentiment in Oil Markets
Trump's decision to impose a 25% tariff on countries purchasing Venezuelan oil has spurred bullish sentiment in the oil markets. As a result, WTI crude oil prices have risen above $70 per barrel. The sanctions and tariffs, particularly impacting China (which accounted for 55% of Venezuela’s oil exports), have created concerns over a reduced supply of heavy oil. This scarcity has helped push prices higher, benefiting U.S. oil and gas companies. With this shift, U.S. producers are seeing increased investor interest, as the market expects stronger returns amid rising oil prices. Check out the graphic below and you can also see the most up-to-date numbers on oil prices here.
More Buyers Looking to Invest in Haynesville and Other Gas Fields
As demand for natural gas grows, more companies are looking to buy gas assets, especially in the Haynesville and Midcontinent areas. The Haynesville, a major gas-producing region near LNG export hubs, is getting a lot of attention from buyers, even though there isn’t much available for sale. Companies like TG Natural Resources and Aethon Energy are buying up assets, while other buyers are also looking at gas fields in places like South Texas. The Haynesville’s large reserves and its location near demand centers make it an important source for future gas supply.

U.S. Natural Gas Pipeline Capacity Sees Significant Growth in 2024

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported that natural gas pipeline capacity increased by 17.8 Bcfd in 2024, marking a second consecutive year of growth. Major projects in key regions like the Permian, Eagle Ford, Appalachia, and Haynesville, including the Matterhorn Express and ADCC pipelines, are driving this expansion, boosting the ability to deliver natural gas to high-demand areas such as Katy and Corpus Christi.

Move to Watch

Big Investments in Gas Pipelines to Meet Rising Demand in the Southeast
Investors are putting billions of dollars into building new pipelines to supply more natural gas to the Southeast U.S. This demand is growing because of new data centers, more LNG projects, and a shift away from coal power. Big companies like Kinder Morgan and Williams are working on pipeline projects to bring gas from across the country to the region. These projects are needed to keep up with the growing need for electricity, especially as more businesses and data centers rely on gas for power. As demand increases, the competition for gas supply will also grow.
