Oil & Gas News

Trump Revokes Oil Majors’ Gas Project Licenses Offshore Venezuela
The Trump Administration has revoked licenses for Shell and BP to operate offshore natural gas projects in Venezuela, affecting their plans to send gas to Trinidad and Tobago. This move is part of the U.S.'s broader strategy to tighten sanctions on Venezuela's oil industry. The revocation impacts the Dragon and Cocuina-Manakin projects, leaving Trinidad and Tobago vulnerable to reduced gas production. The country’s Prime Minister, Stuart Young, plans to meet with U.S. officials to emphasize the importance of these energy projects for the Caribbean nation’s security.
U.S. Wind Power Growth Slashed by 40% Due to Trump Policies
The Trump Administration's energy policies have significantly reduced U.S. wind power growth, with Wood Mackenzie Consulting cutting its five-year forecast for new capacity additions by 40%. The consultancy now expects just 45 GW of new wind capacity, down from 75.8 GW previously expected. While some projects initiated under Biden's clean energy policies are under construction, the long-term outlook remains bleak due to policy uncertainty and economic challenges. Trump's energy agenda, which excluded wind energy, has further dampened future development.

Liberty, Imperial, and Range Team Up for Pennsylvania Power Plant

Liberty Energy, Imperial Land Corp., and Range Resources are partnering to develop a power plant in Washington County, Pennsylvania. The plant will use natural gas from the nearby Marcellus Shale to meet the energy needs of data centers and industrial facilities in the region.

NextDecade and Aramco Secure 20-Year LNG Offtake Deal
NextDecade Corp. has signed a 20-year LNG offtake agreement with an Aramco subsidiary for 1.2 million tonnes per annum from Train 4 at the Rio Grande LNG Facility. The deal is contingent on a positive final investment decision (FID) for Train 4, which will depend on securing additional commercial agreements and financing. The facility is currently under construction in Brownsville, Texas.

Mentor Capital Purchases Royalty Acres in Permian Basin Project
Mentor Capital has acquired 25.127 net royalty acres in a 71-well project in the Permian Basin. The company’s royalty stream represents 12.5% of oil and gas revenues from its acreage, with an average production of 10 barrels of oil per day and 24,000 cubic feet of natural gas daily. Additionally, 16 well locations in the Dean and Wolfcamp formations are set for future development by operator Diamondback. This acquisition is part of Mentor's strategy to expand its energy asset portfolio.
