Oil and Gas News
$1.8B Deal to Expand Texas LNG Exports
NextDecade has lined up $1.8 billion from TotalEnergies and Global Infrastructure Partners to expand its Rio Grande LNG plant in Texas. The project, awaiting federal approval, will boost U.S. LNG exports and open new revenue streams for Texas energy producers.
U.S. Energy Moving Forward with Montana Gas Project Despite Losses
U.S. Energy lost $6.1 million in the second quarter of 2025, but is speeding up work on its big Montana gas project called Kevin Dome. This site holds large amounts of carbon dioxide and helium, which the company plans to start selling in 2026. The gas can be used for things like carbon storage and oil recovery. So far, three wells have been drilled, producing high-quality gas, and construction on processing facilities will start later this year.

Venture Global Beats Shell in LNG Contract Dispute
Venture Global won an eight-month legal fight against Shell over gas sales from its Calcasieu Pass plant. The ruling backed Venture Global’s claim that it didn’t have to sell to long-term customers while the plant was still being tested in 2022, allowing it to sell on the more profitable spot market instead.
Chevron’s New Drilling Method Saves Time and Money in Texas Oil Fields
Chevron is using a faster drilling method called “triple-frac” that cracks three wells at once instead of one or two. They started trying it in 2024 in the Permian Basin and used it on about a quarter of their wells. This year, they plan to use it on almost half. The new method speeds up work by about a quarter and cuts costs by more than 10% per well, helping Chevron pump oil more efficiently.

BKV Expands Lead in Barnett Shale with $370M Deal
BKV is buying oil and gas assets from Bedrock Energy Partners for $370 million to strengthen its position as the biggest producer in the Barnett Shale area of Texas. The deal gives BKV more land, hundreds of active wells, and new drilling spots, which will boost its gas production and reserves. The purchase should be completed later this year, with part of the payment in BKV stock and the rest covered by a bank loan.
